Kate & Mike’s wedding day was quite possibly one of the most relaxed weddings days we’ve been apart of. We met K&M through another couple whose wedding we photographed last year and our now good friends with! They are easily two of the most kind-hearted & laid back couples we have ever met. These two have been together for ten years. All they wanted was a very relaxed, stress free day that was about them becoming husband and wife with the people they love most. It brought us nothing but pure joy to photograph their wedding that took place downtown Toronto.
Mike’s a firefighter and he actually started his morning at work (so cute). He left work and met his friends at Rod, Gun & Barbers, this amazing barbershop in the Junction. This shop is so awesome and unique. You can get a clean up and drink a pint of beer at the same time. As the men drank beer and cleaned up their hair, Kate got ready with her parents & friends at her childhood home. Kate was quite possibly the coolest bride ever with a vintage inspired dress from Stone Cold Fox and a leather bomber jacket!
As it was a rainy day in downtown Toronto, our plans for an outdoor first look shifted into an indoor first look. Kate and Mike had full trust in our decision on where we were to go and we had come up with an idea that we could not have been more excited about. Our good friends Nickie Minshall and Dustin Keating built and own a beautiful eclectic new restaurant on College west of Toronto called Pray Tell (if you haven’t gone, go right now). The cool vibe and warm environment was the perfect compliment to Kate & Mike. Nickie, Dustin & the staff or Pray Tell made it the most memorable first look that included champagne, cocktails and The Bee Gees. Does it get any better?
Before heading to Propeller Coffee Co. where the ceremony and reception were taking place, Kate and Mike wanted to head back to their home in High Park for some down time. The best part was they asked us to come hang out with them over a glass of wine to take it all in before the festivities began. We of course were so touched that they wanted to hang with us before and it truly was such a special part of the day.
After some wine & eats we made our way to Propeller Coffee together. The space was decorated so beautifully. Intimate candlelight filled the coffee shop. Tree stumps, a Persian rug, candles and incredible hanging greenery created the perfect atmosphere for them to share I do’s. But the best part of it all were the people that filled this space with their smiles and full hearts.
The ceremony lead straight into a party and passed hors d’oeuvres. It was the most casual evening with standing speeches and chatting. After speeches they went straight into their first dance which was a quiet and peaceful moment shared between them dancing to Elvis Presley’s Can’t Help Falling In Love With You (this was the song that played the night they got engaged). Their love and excitement kicked off the dancing and these two love to dance! We of course joined in on a few dances with everyone and loved every minute. We’re so thankful to had been a part of it this intimate and relaxed Toronto wedding at Pray Tell & Propeller Coffee Co. A big thank you to Kate & Mike for choosing us to be apart of so many touching moments.
