A love story that even we may tell our kids one day is the story of Alex & Dylan. A cool and loving couple who are so down to earth and planned a super chill, personal and rad wedding at Hart House and the Distillery District above El Catrin.
They met at University of Toronto on Thanksgiving weekend 8 years ago, so of course they had to get married at Hart House on Thanksgiving weekend! U of T obviously holds a very special place in their hearts. It’s where they met, fell in love and met all of their best friends. They were even tour guides there and can tell you all the interesting facts, like where Good Will Hunting was filmed. Matt Damon even stayed in the room Alex ended up living in so she’s basically Matt Damon.
The ceremony at Hart House was like something out of a movie. The weather was perfect, matched with the most lovely people to fill the seats. As guests arrived they filled the space with laughs, hugs and smiles all round. Insanely gorgeous and romantic florals by Rikki Marcone Events made it that much better. Dylan was looking fresh as he made his way down the aisle in a custom made vintage dark green three piece suit with a grey vest. Alex made her way down solo, and what an entrance it was. Her beautiful simple satin gown paired with a stunning cape handmade by her grandmother made everyone’s hearts swoon. The ceremony was filled with so much laughter and touching moments. They were married by one of their good friend’s mothers which made it even more special!
Once the ceremony came to an end, we were in a photographers playground exploring the campus. The history of the buildings inside and out was incredible and surely did not have any shortage of beauty. Not to mention we had two former alumni tour guides taking us along to all their favourite spots (including the court yard where Good Will Hunting was filmed which is one of our favourite films of all time). As if U of T wasn’t amazing enough for photos, we then got in our car and drove to the historical Distillery District which is where they were hosting their reception. Before we made our way inside, we of course took advantage of the amazing photo opportunities all around The Distillery District.
The reception which took place at The Loft which is above El Catrin (we obviously made some time to have some guac chips & a margarita). The space was filled with so many amazing details which really brought the eclectic loft together. With wild and beautiful florals, string lights, garland, a plethora of candle light and Thanksiving fall touches, the room was very cozy & intimate. They had specialized cocktails along with flowing champagne and craft beer. Throughout the night the candid moments were one after another. From big laughs, to heartfelt cries, and speeches that made you excited to have a wedding of your own, it was one of the most relaxed days we’ve been apart of. The night ended with a packed dance floor and classic 90’s hits that made everyone want to move. This wildly romantic vintage Hart House and Distillery District wedding was one we’ll never forget.
